Thanksgiving Tips

  • After a hearty Thanksgiving meal, remember portion control. Serve appropriately sized dessert portions. Guests can always come back for more, if they wish.
  • Few aromas are more inviting than a cup of hot coffee on a crisp fall afternoon. It might also be fun to try a specialty coffee drink
  • Get creative! After you have plated slices of pumpkin pie, gently dust each plate with ground cinnamon or powdered sugar for a festive touch.
  • If you have 2 or 3 different desserts, consider making sampler plates with bite-size servings of each. That way, everyone can taste all the delicious treats without eating too much.
  • Many holiday dessert recipes call for pumpkin pie spice. If you don’t have any on hand, here is an easy way to make your own. For each 1 tsp. of pumpkin pie spice, just mix 1/2 tsp. ground cinnamon, 1/4 tsp. ground ginger, 1/8 tsp. ground allspice and 1/8 tsp. ground nutmeg.
  • Be prepared. To limit kitchen time and maximize time with your guests, have all the dessert dishes stacked, with dessert forks on hand. In addition, measure ground coffee and have it ready to brew right after dinner is finished.
