Dulce de Leche Squares

If you enjoy the flavors of caramel and sweetened condensed milk, you already know dulce de leche, a creamy milk product of Latin America that's used in everything from candies to cookies to cakes. Dulce means "sweet" in Spanish, and these squares live up to the name.

Dulce de Leche Squares Recipe

Ingredients

  • 6 HONEY MAID Honey Grahams
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 can (14 oz.) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tsp. vanilla
  • 2 Tbsp. caramel ice cream topping

Instructions

  • Arrange  grahams in single layer on bottom of 9-inch square pan sprayed with cooking spray, breaking as necessary to fit.
  • Whisk  eggs in small bowl until blended. Bring milk, cream and vanilla just to simmer in medium saucepan on medium heat, stirring constantly. Add about 1/4 cup milk mixture to eggs; mix well. Return to milk mixture in saucepan; cook 6 to 8 min. or until thickened, stirring constantly. (Mixture should register between 175° and 180°F on instant-read thermometer.)
  • Pour  milk mixture over grahams. Refrigerate 6 to 8 hours or until firm.
  • Cut  dessert into squares. Heat caramel topping; drizzle over desserts.

Recipe Tips

VariationOmit caramel topping. Sprinkle 3/4 cup toasted flaked coconut over dessert squares before serving.
